1st day: Arrival in Bucharest

Arrival at the airport in Bucharest. Up to the arrival time one shall have a short city tour through the city and eventually free time in the city centre. Check in the hotel in the city centre in Bucharest. Dinner and  overnight accommodation.

2nd day: Bucharest – Giurgiu – Veliko Tarnovo/Bulgaria (approx. 180 km)

In the morning one shall leave Bucharest and shall drive to Giurgiu. Fare well from the Romanian guide and drive over the border to Bulgaria. Here one shall be expected by the Bulgarian guide and shall drive further to Veliko Tarnovo,in the picturesque landscape of the Jantra-River. During the city tour one shall see the old town and the handcrafter alley. Dinner will be served in the Village Museum Arbanassi. Overnight accommodation in the Veliko Tarnovo area.

3rd day: Veliko Tarnovo – Schipka – Kazanlak – Plovdiv (approx. 200 km)

After breakfast one shall cross the Schipka Pass and shall drive to Kazanlak. Kazanlak is very well known for the Thracian tombs and of course also for the production of attar of roses. Depending from the season, during the trip through the Rose valley one can see rose fields (beginning of June), lavender or cotton. One shall visit a production company for attar of roses and shall a rose honey tasting. Afterwards one shall drive to Plovdiv, the second largest city in Bulgaria. In the afternoon city tour in Plovdiv. One shall see nice gardens and impressive beautiful middle class houses from the 18th and 19th century. Of course one shall also see the very good preserved Roman Amphitheater, which lies in the middle of the city centre. Dinner and overnight accommodation.

4th day: Plovdiv – Rila Monastery - Sofia (approx. 170 km)

In the morning one shall shall drive to the Rila Mountain. Here one shall find the well known Rila-Monastery, UNESCO world heritage, considered to be the most well known sight in Bulgaria. Everybody knows the pictures with the rectangle building and with black-white wall paintings, the arcade corridors, the outside stairs and the other front buildings. Afterwards one shall drive to Sofia. During the city tour one shall see, among others, the Alexander Newski Cathedral, the second largest orthodox cathedral in the Balkan peninsula and which was build between 1904-1912, the National Theatre „Iwan Wasow“, the central bath houses, the Russian church and shall also take a walk through the modern Sofia – over the Vitosha main street, the most beloved shopping street in Sofia having shops, cafes and restaurants. Dinner and overnight accommodation in Sofia.

5th day: Sofia – Vratzka – Belogradtschik – Vidin (approx. 260 km)

In the morning one shall leave Sofia and shall drive through the picturesque Iskar Valley to Vratzka. One shall visit the Ledenika cave. Afterwards one shall drive to Belogradtschik and shall see the cliffs. During 200 million years the nature has created a huge open air cliff museum. Then one shall drive further to Vidin. Here one shall have the possibility of a walk in the city at the Danube River. Dinner and overnight accommodation. 

6th day: Vidin – Sibiu (approx. 300 km)

After breakfast one shall visit the citadel “Baba Vida”. Then one shall say good bye to the Bulgarian guide and shall cross the Danube by ferry. One shall be expected by the Romanian guide and shall drive further towards Transylvania. The route leads one through Craiova, Slatina, Ramnicu Valcea to Sibiu. Dinner and overnight accommodation.

7th day: Sibiu – Brasov – Predeal (approx. 185 km)

Sibiu is one of the most important German establishments and is considered to be the most beautiful city in Romania. In 2007 Sibiu was the Capital of Culture in Europe which has conducted to the restoration of the entire city centre. During the city tour one shall see the Large and the Small Square, the Bridge of the Liars, the evangelical church and the orthodox cathedral. Afterwards one shall drive further to Brasov. During the city tour one shall see among others the City Hall Square, the Black Church (the largest gothic sacral building in South-Eastern Europe) and the former defense towers of the city. Brasov is considered to be the oldest town in Transylvania and has had a very quick development thanks to the guilds and to the craftsmen. The overnight accommodation shall be today in Predeal, one of the most beloved holiday resorts in the Southern Carpathians. Dinner and overnight accommodation.

8th day: Predeal – Bucharest (approx. 150 km)

After breakfast one shall drive towards airport in Bucharest and flight back home.

During the stay one shall overnight in Romania exclusively in comfortable 4-star-hotels, with restaurant, bar, fitness rooms, as well as, some of them, with indoor swimming pool. All rooms are modern and have bath or shower/WC, Sat-/Cable-TV, direct access telephone, writing desk, Wi-Fi, minibar, etc. In Bulgaria one shall overnight in good 3-/4-star-hotels, their names one shall receive together with the confirmation of your reservation!
